Black Satellites Disappoint !

The national under-20 team of Ghana yesterday failed to qualify for the African Youth Championship to be held in Zambia next year. In the full glare of the Ghana FA President, Mr. Kwasi Nyantakyi and the distinguished Minister of Sports, Mr. Nii Lante, the Satellites managed to beat their counterparts from Senegal by a solitary goal at the newly constructed Cape Coast Stadium but failed to progress because they lost the reverse fixture in Dakar by 3 goals to 1.

Coach Didi Dramani made just one change to the side that lost in Dakar. Saliu Babawo of Sekondi Hasaacas replaced Mohammed Armando. the side also included Kumasi Asante Kotoko's topscorer for the season, Dauda Mohammed and Yaw Yeboah of Manchester City fame.

Kingsley Fobi's led Satellites took the game to their opponents right from the zero minute but the athletic Senegalese side stood resolute and looked determined until Charles Boateng of WAFA put the home side up by a goal. The goal brought some hope to the home supporters who only wanted a goal more. Luck meanwhile chose to smile upon the away side as the game ended 1-0 and 2-3 on aggregate for the away side.
Senegal makes it to their consecutive AYC after making it to the semis at the last FIFA Youth World Cup.
