GPL- MATCHDAY 23 ROUNDUP

Across the 8 match centres this weekend, 16 goals were recorded in an action packed weekend of league games. 25% of the goals were scored by away sides. Hearts of Oak were defeated in a away fixture for the first time with their rivals, Asante Kotoko getting their first win in many games. Techiman City also lost their home invincibility to Ebusua Dwarfs. 
6 wins were recorded with 5 being home wins. 

WAFA SC vs HEARTS OF OAK SC
On Saturday, Hearts' hopes of annexing the league trophy was dealt a blow as WAFA schooled them at Sogakope. Togolese striker, Komlan Agbegniadan scored for the home side on the 3rd minute to set the tone for a soccer lesson. Charles Boateng added the second within six minutes before Komlan added the third on the 24th minute mark. The result ended Hearts' unbeaten away run. Sergio Traguil's side are now placed second, 2 points shy off the top spot.

WAFA SC LINE-UP

ASHANTIGOLD SC vs NEW EDUBIASE UNITED
Ashantigold did the double over New Edubiase Utd in the Adanse derby. Coach Basir Hayford returned to the bench of the Miners. Fuseini Nuhu converted a penalty against his former side before Emmanuel Osei Baffoe added one more to leave the visitors helpless. NE Utd are rock bottom of the league log with the Miners gradually climbing up the log, now 11th placed on 29 points. This happens to be their 5th win in the league, the 4th at home.

TECHIMAN CITY FC vs EBUSUA DWARFS FC
Techiman City handed their first home defeat of the season. Alhaji Mustapha struck for Dwarfs in the second half to ensure that the Citizens lost at home. This happened to be the only away win of the round. Mustapha has now scored in two successive away games. Dwarfs are now 9th placed having amassed 13 from a possible 18 points.

ALL STARS vs BECHEM UNITED
All Stars leapfrogged Hearts of Oak into first place after defeating Bechem United by two goals to nothing. Striker Richard Arthur got his 8th goal of the season after Sadiq Alhassan had shot the home side ahead through a penalty kick. Bechem United are still win less on the road. Richard Arthur meanwhile has scored one-third of all All Stars league goals.

HASAACAS FC vs ADUANA STARS
Dubbed the as the league's worst away performers, the same cannot be said about Hasacaas at home. Hitherto, they had won 7, drawn 2 and lost 2 of their home duels in the league this season. At the Essipong Stadium, they once again "did the do" by defeating Aduana Stars. Bright Adjei scored for Aduana in between Kojo Opoku and Ebo Duncan's strikes for the home side. Aduana Stars have now lost 7 away games this season.

CHELSEA FC vs LIBERTY PROFESSIONALS  FC
At the Berekum Golden City Park, Chelsea shared the spoils with Liberty Professionals. Daniel Kodie scored for the visitors before Seth Appiah leveled things up for the home side. In all away encounters this season Liberty has drawn 7 times.

INTER ALLIES FC vs MEDEAMA SC
The "eleven is to one" side drew one all with Medeama at Tema. It was a game between two dead ball specialists, Akwasi Donsu and Gabriel Ahortor. Ahortor scored for the home side, his 5th of the campaign. Donsu also proved his mettle and got his 10th goal of the season. the 8th from a free-kick. Medeama has now manged to get just one point in 4 games. Inter Allies meanwhile now lie in the drop zone.

ASANTE KOTKO vs DREAMS FC
Kotoko's dreams came true yesterday as they returned to winning ways. Felix Annan started in the goalpost for the home side and handed them their first clean-sheet in five games.for A well taken spotkick by captain Amos Frimpong ensured that Kotoko repeated the dose over Dreams FC. Emmanuel Gyamfi was adjudged to have been fouled in the opponents penalty box with 15 minutes left of play. Frimpong now has 7 goals this season Remarkable from a defender. Kotoko surpassed Dreams into fourth place with just a point between the two clubs.
