Ghana Premier League Week 2- What you should know

With 7 out of a possible 240 games played,  the Ghana Premier League bounces back this weekend.  8 games will be honoured come Saturday and Sunday at the various match centres across the country.

Football fans can be assured of some great goalkeeper saves,  stalwart defending,  combination of passes but hopefully they won't be left out of the goal celebrations.

On Saturday,  Hearts of Oak will battle it out with Ashantigold SC at their adopted Cape Coast stadium. Hearts will hope to buy some new fans at Cape Coast and there wouldn't be a better toast.

On Sunday,  Karela will take on Eleven Wonders at the Aiyinase CAM Park.  This will be a battle of league debutants in front of not more than 1,200 fans.

Aduana Stars,  back from their Champions League exit will seek to redeem their dented image when they travel south to face Sharks at the Paa Kwesi Ndoum Stadium at Elmina.

Ebusua Dwarfs will make the 689 km trip to WA to face All Stars at the Malik Jabir Sports Stadium.  Inter Allies in search of their second win will play away to Asante Kotoko at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.

Team Eleven Wonders
Medeama SC will make a stop off the Kumasi-Sunyani  road to take on Bechem United at  the Nana Gyeabour Park in their second league game. Liberty Professionals will play at home to WAFA at Dansoman in what will be the home side's first league game and the away side's second.

The Golden City park on the Berekum-Sampa  road,  Chelsea will lock horns with Dreams FC.

Here are some facts worth knowing ahead of the games;

1. Of the 11 goals scored in the first round,  6 were netted in the second half of the games.  Victorien Adebayor of Inter Allies was the only player to find the back of the net twice.

2. Aduana Stars in their last 105 away games have won only 18.

3. Inter Allies recorded their first ever win in the league on 23/10/13. They defeated Bechem United by 3-0. As it stands,  the same scoreline against the same club represents their last win in the league. Familiar foes?

4. Berekum Chelsea have recorded 34 one nil (1-0) home wins since 2010/11.

5. Daniel Amanfo (Inter Allies)  grabbed the first goal of the season with Richmond Lamptey assisting him.

6.  In their first league season (2016),  Dreams FC were handed 4 red cards on the road.

7. In the 2015 season,  Medeama,  B A United and Bechem United failed to win a game away from home.  Interestingly,  B A United managed to get just a point in their 15 games.  P 15, W 0 , D 1 , L 14).

8. In their last 50 home games,  All Stars have won 34, Drawn 12 and lost just 4. They have kept 32 clean sheets in the process.  They have managed 7 away wins in the same period.

9.  Ashantigold SC has kept only 2 clean sheets in their last 7 away games against  Hearts of Oak.  They have scored 8 and conceeded 9 in the process.  Each time they kept a clean sheet,  they have went on to win by a goal to nothing.

10. In their last 90 league games,  Inter Allies have lost 1/3. 10 losses each in the last 3 seasons.

Don't be left out of the celebrations.  Be at a match venue.
