Ernest Sowah chooses Hearts over Ashgold.

Former Tema Youth FC and CS Don Bosco goal tender has signed a deal to join Accra Hearts of Oak after parting ways with Kumasi Asante Kotoko.

The agile shot-stopper was part of the Berekum Chelsea team that won the Ghana Premier League in the 2010/11 season. He has Ben Mensah and Richard Baidoo to compete with at the Accra based club. The club parted ways with former WAFA goalkeeper Theophilus Jackson and the spot had to be filled up.

Ashantigold SC who are currently leading the league log were in talks to get the player to their camp but the deal hit the rocks as the player was lured to the possibility of getting more game time at the Rainbow club.

The player who last played for Asante Kotoko on Matchday day 30 of last season was recalled by the technical team to join the youth team in training in May until he was given the green light to leave.

Sowah joined Asante Kotoko from DR Congo side CS Don Bosco in 2015 but failed to establish himself as number one with Felix Annan being every manager's choice. The departure of Isaac Amoako could have kept him in Kumasi but Kwame Baah and Michael Abu's arrivals meant his days were long over due.

Hearts were in talks to get the services of John Mossie from Techiman City but the league debutants wouldn't let their prized asset leave for nothing. Settling on Sowah was obvious as the club had to find competition for Ben Mensah.

The 30 year old follows in the late Soulama Abdoulaye's path as the latter also traded same clubs after also being accused of bribery.

Ashantigold SC meanwhile are still in the market looking to replace the aged goalkeeper,  George Owusu's whose contract runs out at the end of the season.

Hearts occupy 10th position with 15 points, 6 points off leaders Ashanti Gold having played 11 games.

Kotoko fans will miss the sight of his 2015 Cherokee Jeep at the training grounds.
