Stats Watch - Emmanuel Agyemang Badu shines for Asante Kotoko in the MTN FA Cup

FA Cup matches never cease to intrigue spectators and the Babayara Stadium was not left out as Kotoko hosted Bepong Storm Academy.

The home side annexed to the next round after beating the second division side on penaltykicks. The game ended scoreless with the home side profiligate in front of goal. 6-5, the home team won on penalties.

Coach Paa Kwasi Fabin handed goalkeeper Emmanuel Osei his first start and he repaid that trust by saving 3 kicks in the shootout. The away side, well composed on the ball and well drilled didn't cease to thrill the home crowd. The trauma that comes with cup matches for top flight clubs.

In a free flowing game, most of the players stood out with top performances but our lens fell on new Asante Kotoko defender,  Emmanuel Agyemang Badu. Only making his second start for the club and his first for the club in the FA Cup,  the youngster held a good partnership with Wahab Adams.

The central defender who failed to shine in his stint with WA All Stars completed his second ninety minutes of football at the home stadium. Yet again Kotoko didn't concede a goal.

Having joined as the 2016/17 Division Player of the season,  the former Phar Rangers player has relegated Awudu Nafiu and Emmanuel Owusu to be Wahab's pair. He plays with the confidence that surpasses his age.

His naivity was shown with 11 minutes payed in the second half when he attempted to dribble Alfred Mensah only to lose out to the striker who blasted his shot wide after going through on goal. His passing and movement compensated for that moment as his tough challenge on Alfred Mensah forced the attacker to throw a fist at him culminating in his sending off for the away side.

This is what our lens captured aside his calm kick in the shootout;

11 interceptions

67% dribble success  ( 6 attempted, 4 successful)

3 Aerial Duels won ( 5 attempted)

6 clearances

100% tackle success ( 6 attempted)

94% pass completion ( 34 attempted, 32 completed)

1 foul won
