ZCPL- Matchday 13- What did we learn

Having successfully completed a deal with Zylophone Cash worth $2m per season as headline sponsors, the league can't get any better in the next 4 years. The cheers that greet the players as they arrive for warm up sessions, the deafening boos when referee decisions aren't appreciated by the crowds and the sudden found comfort when the ball finally rolls into the net will still remain spectacles.

After a short break, the league bounced back as the 16 clubs played in 8 games across the country. 13 rounds of games now exhausted and the league looks far from decided.  Asante Kotoko won on the bounce, Hearts were held by WAFA, Karela continued their ride over the big clubs yet again as All Stars'woes continues. Ashantigold SC meanwhile looks to have lost their grip off the league trophy.

After an interesting round of games,  here are somethings we learnt;

100th League game ends goalless
Hearts' goalless stalemate with WAFA was the 100th game of the season. This was the 8th goalless draw of the season. Elmina Sharks have played in the most goalless stalemates, 4 times this season. 204 goals have been recorded this season with 84 being scored in the first period of games.

Yatsuashi's men finally win an away game
Michael Otuo's winner at the Malik Jabir Sports Stadium at Wa was Inter Allies'first away league win of the 2018 season. This is their 7th away win since 2014. Their last away win prior to Wednesday's game was on 11/09/2016 against Dreams FC.

Matchday 13, Scores at a glance
Charles Boateng - An eye for goal?
With 12 goals in the last 3 seasons for WAFA, the attacker exhibited yesterday against Hearts his desire to notch goals. He kept trying to run into the spaces behind the defenders.  Many times he got the timing of his runs wrong but on one occasion he was wrongly flagged for offside. That could have been his moment. With 4 goals in last 4 starts,  the young attacker huffed and puffed looking to get his 7th league goal.

7! The perfect number?
Medeama, Dreams and Inter Allies have won the most games,  7. Victorien Adebayor (Inter Allies)  and Hafiz Konkoni (Bechem Utd)  lead the goal king race after 13 games with 7 goals each.

Sharks' Unbeaten streak swallowed
Elmina Sharks were on an 11 game unbeaten run until their lost to Kotoko on Wednesday. Just when they ended theirs,  WAFA seems to be on a ride, unbeaten in their last 6 games after losing 4 consecutive games on the trot.

How they stand
Emmanuel! Gyamfi is with you
The pacy winger scored for the first time in 2 consecutive games for Asante Kotoko. He now has 3 goals in 2 seasons for the league but 2 goals against Sharks in their two visits to Kumasi is worth mentioning.

Sharks need Yakubu Mohammed and Cosmos Dauda?
The two centre forwards are in search of new clubs and Sharks looks the best fit. The club has only managed 11 goals in their 12 games which needs a lift. Cosmos Dauda found the back of the net 14 times for Hearts in his 2 and half year stay. Yakubu Mohammed got 6 goals for Kotoko last season and scored once already this season. He managed 11 goals for Ashgold in the 2014/15. Sharks' Felix Addo has 3 goals this season and will need some help with Mohammed  Tanko not living up to the bill. The club has failed to score in 5 league games this season.
