ZYLOPHONE CASH PREMIER LEAGUE - WEEK 14- EiGHT THINGS WE NOTICED FROM THE VARIOUS CENTRES

The penultimate round of games to draw the curtain on the first round of the 2018 league season was honoured yesterday with two to be held in the afternoon today.

In the 6 games played,16 goals were scored across the match centres with 9 of the goals being scored at Tarkwa and Elmina.

Hearts play away to Inter Allies on Thursday with Aduana playing host to Bechem United.

On Wednesday, Asante Kotoko managed to draw away at Carl Reindolf with Liberty whilst Sharks were held to a two all draw by Dwarfs at Elmina. Dreams lost away to Ashgold same as Chelsea did at Techiman.

WAFA and  Karela settled for a draw as Medeama gallantly dispatched All Stars.

Here are seven things we observed from the matches centers:

4 STAR MEDEAMA
Medeama SC has won the FA Cup twice since it's re-inception in  the 2010/11 season but have failed to win the league. The 4-1 annihilation of All Stars puts them 2 clear points off second placed Ashgold with both having a game in hand. 20/05/17 was the last time Medeama scored more than 3 goals in a league game.
How the clubs stand
MYSTERIOUS NKRUMAH TO SAVE DWARFS?
Amos Nkrumah joined Dwarfs from Karela United on loan in the second transfer window and he is a fans' hero now. His 2 goals against Sharks increased his goal tally to 3 in just 2 games played for the "Green & Yellows". Just 2 games and he has already scored 25% of the club's total goals scored this season. Dwarfs have now managed to get 4 points from their last 2 games with him. Hitherto, it was just a point in 4 games. His goals were the first Sharks have conceeded after 8 games.

A GAME OF DOUBLES!
4 braces were scored at 2 centres as Dwarfs held Sharks to a draw with  Medeama also walloping All Stars. Kwame Boateng and Donsu got 2 each for Medeama whilst Yakubu and Amos Nkrumah also got a double each for Sharks and Dwarfs respectively.

5 GOALS,  5 POINTS?
William Opoku Mensah got his 5th goal of the season yet again coming from the bench to secure a point at Sogakope. The forward's first league goal salvaged a point for Karela against Wonders before his second half hattrick against Hearts gave Karela all the 3 points at stake. His goals have contributed to  23% of the league debutant's total points accrued.

GUESS WHO WAS AT THE DANSOMAN PARK
All time topscorer for the senior men's national team of Ghana, Asamoah Gyan characteristically watched his former team play. The Black Stars' captain had a few words for the Liberty Prof. players at recess and a lot for the media.

YAK "M-BRACES" NEW BEGINNINGS
The former Ashgold danger man scored 2 goals on his debut for Asante Kotoko last season and he fancied another at Elmina. Frozen out of Kotoko, the forward is on a revival mission on loan at Sharks and he quickly reminded the Sharks' fans what they have been missing since match day 24 of last season- a brace.

FANATICS WON'T LET REFEREES BE?
Some supporters are always filled with excessive and single minded zeal for an extreme club cause. Can such supporters ever be satisfied with the knights of the whistles? Dwarfs fans won't let the game at Elmina flow until the referees hear some sense from them. At Dansoman, penalty awarded to both Kotoko and Liberty but the referee wasn't spared either.

DONSU BECKHAMS ON
2 seasons ago he scored 10 free kicks for Medeama in the league and scored 21 goals across all competitions. From the centre of the field, Donsu has been in superb form  scoring 7 goals this season including a "worldie"at Sogakope. 5 goals in his last 3 home games underlines his importance to Medeama's current rise.
