It's been clearly close to 2 full moons since the nation was struck with an exposé into football activities. This called for a ban on football activities until quite recently the government paved way for club friendlies and international games to avoid any unnecessary sanctions by FIFA.

Clubs have taken the period to allow injured players to recuperate whilst Coaches work on their tactics. It's been more of a preseason period in the middle of the season.

With this said, Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC will travel to Tanzania to play Simba S.C on Wednesday, 8 August 2018, to honor of their SIMBA DAY celebration.

The West African Club was called on after AC Leopards (Kenya) called off their  participation in the tournament. Leopards were humiliated by four goals to nil in the 2016 edition of the Simba Day.

Thus, Kotoko play against Simba SC in Msimbanzi. Simba SC won the Tanzanian championship last term.

The Simba Day is celebrated annually by the Tanzanian outfit and is used to unveil new players, award outstanding ones and play a friendly against an invited club mostly from East Africa.

Simba SC beat Rayon Sports from Rwanda by a goal to nothing in last year's edition.

Asante Kotoko will look to give new midfielder Stephen Nyarko some play time as well as Kwame Boahene who battled with an injury throughout the season. Boahene is fit now having played in some club friendlies these past few weeks.
