National Youth Authority Joins GH One on The Drug Abuse Battle, A Rehab Centre Is To Be Built By The End of the Year

Earlier this year, the tramadol menace severely raised its ugly head amongst the youth in Ghana.

There were several reported cases and victims of tramol abuse, roaming the streets of Ghana, predominantly in Accra and Kumasi.

Several personalities of influence and reputable brands contributed to the battle with the primary aim of creating awareness and resounding the essence of making adequate provisions for victims of substance abuse. 
Notable among such personalities and brands were ace journalist Nana Aba Anamoah and the entire GH One media house. Their campaign customized by the hashtag #EndTramadolAbuseWithGhOne, has made great strides as an agreement has been brokered with the National Youth Authority to further the course of the campaign. 

The partnership stems from a signed memorandum of understanding between the Excellence in Broadcasting (E.I.B) franchise and the National Youth Authority on Tuesday, July 31st, 2018. According to Bola Ray - the C.E.O of E.I.B, all platforms and resources of the E.I.B media franchise shall be made available to help intensify efforts involved in the campaign.

Nana Aba Anamoah who announced the partnership via twitter, added that, the NYA has set plans to construct at least one rehabilitation centre by the end of the year. The C.E.O of the National Youth Authority, Emmanuel Asigri,  added that Ghana lacks in the provision of rehabilitation centres. 
 “That’s one thing we don’t have in this country,” he stated and that according to experts he had spoken with “we can do whatever it is; the education, trying to get the people out of it, if we don’t have a rehabilitation centres where we can take these people through and then bring them out it is really going to be very difficult for them to get out of it completely.” -Cypress Gh
