TETTEH ANNANG - THE NEXT GHANAIAN GOALKEEPER IN THE EPL?

For some strange reasons, African goalkeepers have not been able to make the grade in the English premier league and it's subsidiaries as compared to the outfield players. Richard Kingson remains a pioneer with regards to African goalkeepers who have risen from the continent's crust to the apex of English football.

Surprisingly, in the summer of 2017, West Ham United after securing the service of goalkeeper Joe Hart went on to complete the signing of Joseph Annang, another goalkeeper. The on trial 19 year old featured for West Ham in a reserve friendly against Dagenham and Redbridge and his performance was enough to earn him a permanent deal.

Tetteh Annang began his playing career with Ghanaian side Danbort FC before a subsequent move to Wa All Stars FC. To aid his development, he moved to England where he earned for himself a trial with the London based club.

Well built, the player born in 1998 uses his physique to deal well with aerial balls, a requisite in the English League. His distribution from the back looks suspect and needs some improvement on.

Tonight, he travels with the Hammers as the U-23's clash with their counterparts from Brighton. The young shot-stopper is yet to play a game with the Hammers and hopefully he gets the nod ahead of Trott Nathan.
