Having booked a date with rivals Accra Hearts of Oak for a semi final clash in the First Tier of the Ghana FA Special Competition, Kotoko knows the route to the Champions League is well carved. A win against their arch rivals will see them book a final game against either Ashantigold or Karela United.

As the club prepares without agile goal tender,  Felix Annan and Abdul Safiu Fatawu due to national team duties, losing Yacouba Songne will have been another blow. Yacouba, though nursing an injury sustained in the clash with Asec Mimosas has turned down a  chance to join the Burkinabe national team to help Kotoko scale the hurdle.

The Burkina Faso national side is scheduled to play against Congo DR on 9th June ahead of the latter's participation in the 2019 AFCON.

The foreign import whose 2 goals downed Hearts of Oak last August in a friendly encounter's  absence will have further diminished the strength of the Porcupine Warriors. A Muslim,  the Burkinabe is keen to spend his Eid Ul Fitr holidays in Kumasi to speed up his recovery.

1 start,  2 substitute appearances has seen him score 1 and assist another in the on-going Special Competition. Can he increase his tally against the club he made his league debut against?

The Chief Executive Officer of Asante Kotoko, Mr. George Amoako has applauded the attacker's efforts to stay behind. In a private chat,  he also lauded Yacouba's commitment to the club with the player iterating his focus on the Super Clash on June 16th.
