THE CONTROVERSY: KUM APEM A, APEM BEBA OR NEVER SAY DIE UNTIL THE BONES ARE ROTTEN?

Asante Kotoko SC will welcome their arch rivals Accra Hearts of Oak SC in yet another crunchy encounter at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday, 8 September 2019. Asante Kotoko defeated Kano Pillars of Nigeria in the CAF Champions League Preliminary Round by 2:0 courtesy some sensational goals from Matthew Kelvin Andoh and Emmanuel Gyamfi. However, a goalless stalemate at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium led to Ashantigold winning the B.K Adusei Memorial Cup as they battled it out in the Ashanti Regional derby against Asante Kotoko.
The defeat to Ashantigold has ignited the spirit of never say die in the fans and players of Accra Hearts of Oak to exercise their authority over their old rivals, as the Baba Yara Sports Stadium been the home grounds of Asante Kotoko  is touted as the home of  Accra Hearts of Oak, due to their repeated and memorable victories at the Stadium. Emblazon of such wins for Hearts of Oak was lifting the Maiden CAF Confederation Cup which plunged Asanteman into a virtual cemetery.
The Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) been the organizers of the President Cup will present the two clubs with an amount of GHS 100,000 as participation fee and GHS 30,000 and GHS 20,000 for the winner and runner up respectively.
How will both teams play tactically ? How is the Midfield battle going to be?

TACTICAL GENIUSES
The two coaches of  the teams,Kim Grant of Hearts of Oak and Kjetil Zachariassen of Asante Kotoko are two coaches that love to play good football and are able to shape up their  teams to effectively display their talent and skill to the best possible advantage. Both have proved their worth as Kim Grant led a youthful side in the NC Special Competition to top the South Zone of the Tier 1 competition while Zachariassen was handed the marathon by Serbian Coach Tanasijevic at Ashantigold after the first round of the competition. Zachariassen went ahead to coruscate a discorded  Ashantigold SC to win the Tier 2  of the NC Competition before joining Asante Kotoko SC. The two coaches are poised to plan a set up for specific purposes in the game in their preferred  4-4-2 and 4-2-3-1 formations. With the quality players the two clubs possess, a chunk of the players of Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko have been called for National duties. These players will be the deciders of the game on Sunday.
PLAYERS ON NATIONAL ASSIGNMENT.
Black Meteors
Asante Kotoko : (2) Kwame Baah (GK), Habib Mohammed (Central Defender)
Hearts of Oak: Richmond Ayi (GK), William Denkyi (LB)
The Black Meteors failed to beat their Algerian Counterparts at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday in a 1:1 draw. Kwame Baah, the 3rd goalkeeper of Asante Kotoko started in post for the Black Meteors and made 3 1v1 saves to keep Ghana in the game. Habib Mohammed, currently Kotoko’s best central defender  couldn’t make it into the starting XI.
Hearts of Oak’s safest pair of  hand, Richmond Ayi was on the bench for the Meteors as Kwame Baah had the nod to man the post. However, William Denkyi came on as a substitute in the second half of the game for Ghana and was impressive as a left back.
Undoubtedly, these players will be needed on Sunday by both teams to make a solid team for Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak.
Black Stars B

Asante Kotoko :(8) Felix Annan (GK), Patrick Yeboah ( LB),  Justice Blay (DM), Salifu Madasiru (CM), Emmanuel Gyamfi ( Winger), Augustine Okrah ( Winger), Matthew Kelvin Andoh ( Winger), Richard  Arthur ( Striker)
Hearts of Oak: (6) Mohammed Alhassan (Central Defender), Benjamin Agyare( Central Defender), Fatau Mohammed ( RB), Benjamin Afutu Kotei (CM), Abdul Umar Manaf ( Attacker), Joseph Esso ( Striker)

There are 10 players of Asante Kotoko  that have caught the eyes of the coaches of  the Black Stars Team B, Coach Maxwell Konadu and Black Meteors coach, Coach Ibrahim Tanko. 2 Goalkeepers both starters for the Ghana Teams and 2 defenders ( CD, LB). The remaining 6 are midfielders and attackers which connotes that Asante Kotoko have a good attacking machinery.
Out of the 8 players on duty for Ghana from Hearts of Oak, there is just 1 goalkeeper, 4 defenders ( Including their LB, RB and 2 central defenders), 1 midfielder and 2 attackers. This throws light to the fact that, Hearts of Oak have a very strong defensive unit.
With the sharp attackers of Kumasi Asante Kotoko and a resolute defense of Hearts of Oak, who wins the President Cup? Asante Kotoko won the last edition on a 4:1 penalty shoot out.
The discipline, tactical and technical approach of the two coaches will give victory to one side. Can Hearts of Oak destroy the party of Asante Kotoko as they are set to use this game as a preparatory game to lock horns with Etoile Sportive  Du Sahel of Tunisia next week at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in the CAF Champions League Prelims.
