Ghana's men under 17 team defeated their Burkinabe counterparts by 5 goals to 1 at the Cape Coast Stadium on Sunday. The encounter is the first of a two legged qualifying tie between the two West African to gain a spot at the African U-17 games to be staged in Madagascar next year.
Coach Paa Kwesi Fabin's Starlets fell behind to the Young Stallions by a goal on the 10th minute. Razak Junior shocked the home crowd with a well taken chance.Emmanuel Toku who grabbed the equalizer for the Starlets minutes few later. Eric Ayiah the captain of the side them led by example by getting his name on the score sheet once in each half. Nathaniel Opoku Onyina who replaced Toku got the fifth with barely 12 minutes of play left.
The second tie is scheduled for Ouagadougou in less than a fortnight. Ghana has won the African Under 17 Championship twice, in 1995 and 1997.
