A MOMENT OF SILENCE: Ghanaian Stars We Lost in 2017

The icy hands of death continues to snatch some of the admirable faces on our Tv screens year in and year out.

As living ones, all we can do is to remember their hard work, immense contribution and legacy for all of us and the entertainment and showbiz industry.  We do this post in their remembrance and as a 'hats off' gesture to all their achievements.

 Here is a list of some of the stars who died in this year.

 1. Charles Kofi Bucknor 

A celebrated actor, a family person and a true statesman. Mr. Charles Kofi Bucknor began acting in his secondary school days in St. Augustine's college. HE moved on to study acting in NAFTI, after a break to study Accounting right after secondary school. Mr. Bucknor with over 20 years in the movie industry is popularly known for his unique role Heritage Africa, Silver Rain, Run Baby Run, African Timber among several others. 
On the 23rd of May, 2017 the actor was reported dead in the 37 Military Hospital by film producer Juliet Asante via facebook. The death broke the hearts of many as several condolence messages poured in from people of all fields. He was buried on 30th June, 2017 at the Asokyeano Cemetary in CapaCoast; he was  64 years old.

2. Paapa Yankson

Paapa Yankson was and is a Ghanaian music legend; one of the very formidable pioneers in the history of high-life music in Ghana. For over thirty years, Paapa Yankson continually churned out widely enjoyed Ghanaian music; Tena Menkyen, Show Your Love, among other smash hits. During his lifetime as a musician, he produced a total of about 15 albums, a sign of his hardwrk and consistency in the music industry.
 He died at the age of 73 at his Dansoman (Accra) residence on the "1st of July, 2017.  Paapa Yankson was buried on the 21st October, 2017 at the forecourt of Ghana's state house in Accra; an event attended by H.E Nana Akuffo Addo (President of Ghana ), several ministers of state and musicians.

3. Awurama Badu

She was very revered in music circles, popularly known for her smash hit singles 'Medofo Adaada Me', Emilia, Komkom etc. Her continuous hard work and commitment to the music industry was rewarded by a non-governmental organization, Values for Life, founded by the former deputy Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Dzifa Gomashie in 2016 for her contribution to arts and music in Ghana.
The musician passed away on 26th October, 2017 at the Effiduase Government Hospital in Ashanti Region due to an unconfirmed illness.

4. Kofi Agyiri

Very well known for his role in the widely-watched Ghanaian TV series EfieWura, Kofi Agyiri was an ace actor. He is reported to have died of kidney related ailments on 29th June, 2017 at the Korle BU Teaching Hospital.

5. Kwadwo Asare Baffuor Acheampong (KABA)

The latest and perhaps the most heartbreaking was the demise of Kwadwo Asare Baffuor Acheampong, journalist at Asempa Fm of the Multimedia Group. KABA as he was popularly called, was very great at his job as a radio journalist; he was awarded the winner of the 'Radio Talk Show Host in this year's Radio and Television Personality Awards. Until his untimely death, he was the host of 'Ekosi Sen'; an insightful radio show on Asempa Fm dedicated to transparency, accountability and anti corruption of government operations and personnel.
The journalist died in the early hours of Saturday, November 18, 2017 due to ill-health. News of his death spread like a wildfire  among Ghanaians meriting condolence messages from government officials, colleague media personnel and other civilians. He was buried on the 16th of December, 2017 at the forecourt f the State House.
