Kotoko sign Emmanuel Agyemang Badu and 5 others

Kumasi Asante Kotoko supporters are in dire need of some inspiration on the field of play and Coach Paa Kwasi has been handed this herculean task. The trainer joined Asante Kotoko weeks to the new season and his free-scoring side looked like title contenders.

Weeks into the new season, the expected change was never to be and the gaffer had to be a man. He held his own when Kotoko played Hearts at the Babayara Stadium on matchday 10 when he boldly left out Jordan Opoku,  Saddick Adams, Kwame Boahene and to an extent Seth Opare. The club lost the game but the gaffer wouldn't compromise discipline for points sticking to young lads like Douglas Ansah and Akwasi Nti.

Emmanuel Agyemang Badu
Paa Kwasi in a Van Gaal-esque way has resorted to add some unknown names to his team after parting ways with 6 senior players with 12 games gone. Having spent a short time at Nkoranza Warriors formerly Bolga All Stars, the manager has identified Samuel Appiah Kubi as the right fit to his central midfield.

The young attacking midfielder has impressed for the second tier side with his delightful passing and a move to Kotoko will be the best opportunity to develop to his full potential.

Alhaji Ishahaku Mohammed has also signed the dotted lines to ply his trade with the Ghanaian giants. The nimble footed winger who is reported to have signed a 4 year deal impressed with his great ball juggling and dribbles in training games whilst on trial with the club at their Adako Jachie base from Efutu Great Kindly Academy.

Samuel Frimpong
Samuel Frimpong has been given the nod to also join the Porcupine Warriors. The Bekwai Youth Football Academy player was a  target for Karela United prior to the beginning of the season but they settled on Isaac Kwain and Saka Godfred. The enterprising right back is believed to have penned a 3 year deal with Kotoko. His arrival raises doubt over the future of Augustine Sefah who has a few months left on his contract.

Ibrahim Ousman Mohammed has been given the responsibility to bang in the goals for the struggling Asante Kotoko. The young centre forward scored against Kotoko when they played Asokwa Deportivo in a pre season friendly and also scored for the club when they recently played against BYFA in a friendly.

Richard Senamu,  a central midfielder has also joined the group after signing a 3 year deal from Uncle T United. The defensive midfielder added steel and grit to the second tier side and his abilities will be sought for in a team that has been conceeding goals in bad fashion.

Appiah Kubi
Did I save the best for the last?  Admittedly! Emmanuel Agyemang Badu was voted as the player of the season in the 2016/17 Ghana Division One league. As a defender,  his ball playing technique and tackles will be welcomed in a team that struggles to contain any good attack. Badu was sought after by Ashantigold but having spent weeks on trial in Kumasi,  he opted to wear the royal red jersey from Pharmacy Rangers.

The players who are in the camp of the club who are currently pitched at Nsuta-Mamapong preparing for the Ghana Premier League alongside. They are likely to get a chance to show the fans what they have when the club plays home to Elmina Sharks on Wednesday,  23rd May.
