Ubiquitously, reports of Asante Kotoko losing cult hero, Songné Yacouba has gathered up weight over the past few months. Nursing an ankle injury, the absence of the Burkinabe from the club's games after their elimination from the CAF Confederations Cup heightened the reports.

Offers were speculated to have been received by the club and his representatives and the forward was all but set to leave with the transfer window fast approaching.

However,  Asante Kotoko's CEO,  Mr. George Amoako,  who earlier on wasn't bothered about Yacouba leaving, held a meeting with the forward to commit his near future to the Porcupines. The former Etoile Filante wideman whose 2 years deal expires in January, 2020 could have left the club in the near future owing to the Bossman rule.

In the presence of Alhaji,  Yacouba's spiritual father,  a deal was sealed with Yacouba to commit his near future to the club regardless of the rife interests for his signature. The forward also used the opportunity to make it known to Mr. Amoako that he was going to perform  better than before.

The forward who has scored 6 goals and assisted a further 6 in his 15 competitive games for the club meanwhile has the option to leave if a deal deemed worthy by the club is found.

With no minutes played in Asante Kotoko's 7 games played in the GFA Special Competition,  the Burkinabe will likely use Wednesday's fixture against Bechem United to stake a claim
