CAF INCREASES NUMBER OF TEAMS AT WOMEN'S AFCON

Amad Amad, the President of CAF, has announced an increase in the number of participating countries at the next Women's AFCON. The Confederation is currently hosting it's first 24 country Men's AFCON at Egypt. 


The Women's edition of the AFCON was last held in Ghana in 2018 with 8 nations as Nigeria emerged tops. 

The competition which serves as qualifiers for the FIFA Women's World Cup will from 2020 have 12 competing countries. The 2020 edition is scheduled to be held in the Republic of Congo. 



The CAF President took to his official twitter account to announce the decision of the Executive Committee regarding the biennial event.

The Confederation has also agreed a one-off final for the CAF Champions League and Confederations Cup with a neutral venue.
