Appointed at the climax of the past year, Turkish, Kasim Gôkyildiz replaced Ricardo da Rocha as the Head Coach of Obuasi based Ashantigold SC. The Brazilian gaffer had led the "Gold and Blacks" during a failed continental attempt in 2019 where Moroccan side,  RS Berkane eliminated the Ghanaian club.

In line with the club licensing requirements, Da Rocha, a former coach at Cape Coast Ebusua Dwarfs paved way for the Turkish UEFA Coach License A holder. Though not confirmed as at the time of joining the Obuasi based club, the GFA provided him with a provisional license awaiting confirmation from the Turkish Football Federation.

As feared, the Competition Management System of the GFA has deleted Kasim's name from the list of coaches citing it's inability to validate the certificate of the Turk.

Commenting on this development late last night, awed Kasim Gökyildiz expressed that the Turkish Federation had sent a letter of validation to the GFA and that he wouldn't have travelled to the African country without the requisite license.

"Am sorry that isn't true, my license is valid until 31/12/2021. Something is going wrong here. The Turkish Football Federation has sent today morning the validity letter to the GFA. If I wouldn't had valid license I never would come to Ghana. My license is OK"

Kasim has been in the dugout in about 3 games for the club with the supporters not happy with his decision to sit mercurial Emmanuel Osei Baffoe during games.

In his absence, long serving Coach Mambo will take on the mantle as the "Gold and Blacks" face Asante Kotoko on Sunday in a league match to be played behind closed doors.

Ashantigold have amassed 17 points from a possible 27 in the ongoing league season.
